  Donald M. Lomurro

  Founding Partner

  Donald M. Lomurro, managing partner of the firm, is a highly accomplished trial attorney who heads our Criminal and Civil Litigation Departments. He is one of seventy-five attorneys in New Jersey to have been designated as both a Certified Civil and Criminal Trial Attorney by the state’s Superior Court. Don has practiced law in Freehold for more than 30 years. His experience includes major litigation in the areas of negligence, product liability, criminal law, palimony, employment discrimination, freedom of the press and malpractice. Several cases tried by Don have gained national media attention.

  Jonathan H. Lomurro

  Partner

  Jonathan H. Lomurro is an expert certified civil trial attorney. He is a specialist in medical malpractice and personal injury cases. After completing law school, he continued his focus on the craft of litigation by earning his LL.M. as a Master of Law in Trial Advocacy. Jonathan has authored three books on Legal Practice: New Jersey Medical Malpractice Law, Litigation Technology for the Modern Practitioner and Try It. He frequently publishes in peer reviewed journals and magazines. Additionally, Mr. Lomurro is an extensive lecturer in the field of Medical Malpractice, Trial Techniques and Technology in the Courtroom. He has lectured across the United States of America on Medical Malpractice, Patient Rights to Access, Audit Trails, and Electronic Medical Records. Mr. Lomurro additionally acts as an expert witness in cases involving audit trails, audit logs, access logs, and electronic medical records. He has been involved in numerous cases before the New Jersey Supreme Court. Jonathan currently is appointed as the Chair of the Medical Malpractice Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He is on the Executive Committee of the New Jersey Association for Justice. And he is the vice-chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association Civil Trial Section. Mr. Lomurro has served as Trustee to the New Jersey State Bar Association and as New Jersey’s representative to the American Bar Association House of Delegates. He is a past Chair to the New Jersey State Bar Association YLD. He is currently the president of the Haydn Proctor Inns of Court. Mr. Lomurro is a founding member and trustee of Lomurro Munson LLC Charitable Fund.

  Richard P. Lomurro

  Richard P. Lomurro is certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a civil trial attorney. He specializes in general litigation with a focus on catastrophic personal injury, corporate law and serious criminal cases. Richard Lomurro has been designated by Super Lawyers Magazine for eleven straight years, since 2011. He was the recipient of the New Jersey Bar Association’s “Young Lawyer of the Year” award in 2016 and has been named as a “New Leader of the Bar” by the New Jersey Law Journal. Mr. Lomurro has successfully argued and won cases before the New Jersey Supreme Court. As a certified civil trial lawyer, he represents people in our community who were seriously hurt or killed by someone else’s negligence.

  Bettina Munson

  Equity Partner

  An equity partner in the Family Law Department of Lomurro Munson LLC, BETTINA MUNSON has more than 30 years of experience in matrimonial cases. She successfully litigated the first U.S. case in which a non-biological mother in a same sex (domestic) partnership was awarded shared custody. She has extensive appellate experience and has published cases in both Family Law and Civil Litigation. Bettina has developed an impressive track record litigating relocation cases throughout the state of New Jersey – and was instrumental in our Firm winning the seminal case, Baures v. Lewis. A strong proponent of mediation and collaboration, she served as the co-chair of the Family Section of the Monmouth County Bar in 2011-2012 and serves as an Early Settlement Panelist in Monmouth County, the Monmouth County Collaborative Divorce and Mediation Professionals (MCCDMP), and Collaborative Divorce Professionals (CDP). In 2003, Bettina was designated a Certified Matrimonial Law Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey – a designation limited to those attorneys with significant involvement in trial matters in Superior Court; an unblemished reputation as attested to by judges and attorneys; and substantial knowledge and continuing legal education demonstrated by passing a special written examination on trial practice. Appointed to the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Domestic Violence in May 2008, Bettina also served on the Board of Governors for the New Jersey Association of Justice and is co-chair for the Family Law Section and is a member of the Monmouth Bar Association. Bettina was also active in local politics. She was a member of the West Long Branch Democratic Committee from 2001-2008 and was elected as a Councilwoman in 2004. She served on the Environmental Commission, Borough of West Long Branch (2001-2004); Shade Tree Commission, Borough of Long Branch (2001-2004); Local Assistance Board, Borough of West Long Branch (2001-2004); and West Long Branch Planning Board (2003-2004). She is a past President of the Brookdale Foundation Board of Trustees and First Tee, Monmouth/Ocean Chapter and previously served on the Board of Directors of Deal Country Club.

  Abbott S. Brown

  Partner

  Abbott S. Brown is a partner with Lomurro Munson LLC in Freehold, New Jersey, where he concentrates on civil litigation with an emphasis in medical and legal malpractice litigation. Mr. Brown attended Rutgers College in New Brunswick and received his J.D. in 1978 from Rutgers University School of Law, Newark. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and the Second and Third Circuit Courts of Appeal. Mr. Brown was certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney in 1994, 2001, 2006 and 2013. In addition to New Jersey Medical Malpractice Law, 8th Ed. (2018) and New Jersey Medical Malpractice Cases, 3rd Ed. (2009), Mr. Brown is also the author of a chapter titled “Medical Experts,” found in New Jersey Trial and Evidence Law (NJICLE 2003). Mr. Brown has had editorials published in the New Jersey Star Ledger, The New York Times and the New Jersey Law Journal. Mr. Brown has also authored over 40 articles for numerous professional publications, and has delivered more than 80 lectures for NJICLE, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the New Jersey Association for Justice and other organizations. Mr. Brown served on the Supreme Court Committee on Model Civil Jury Charges, the Supreme Court Committee on Jury Selection and Voir Dire, and the Board of Governors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America – New Jersey. He was awarded the Gold Medal for Distinguished Service by the Association of Trial Lawyers of America – New Jersey in April of 2001. Mr. Brown was named as one of New Jersey’s “Top Ten Lawyers” in 2006, and one of New Jersey’s “Top 100 Lawyers” in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Mr. Brown was recognized as one of the 50 Most Powerful People in New Jersey Healthcare in 2012. Mr. Brown was an Adjunct Professor at Seton Hall University School of Law in the Health Law and Policy Program, where he taught medical malpractice law from 1998 to 2010. He also lectured at the New Jersey Judicial College and served on the Board of Trustees of the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey and the District V-B Ethics Committee, and as Chair of the Medical Malpractice Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Mr. Brown has also served as a delegate to the New Jersey State Bar Association – Third Annual Judicial Administration Forum, and on the Special Committee on Implementation of a Pilot Medical Malpractice Mediation project.
